One is spoilt for choices when it comes to dining options in Publika as this neighbourhood mall offers up a range of restaurants, cafes, eateries and bars.

One of our favourite restaurants in Publika Mall is actually Ante Kitchen & Bar. This full-fledged pork restaurant is run and managed by a team of good friends in their twenties. Their entire menu is dedicated to pork with dishes such as pork ribs, carbonara, pork burger, pork chops and more. The restaurant’s interior is clean and minimalist with an industrial look of intentionally exposed light bulbs and ceilings.

We were here for a friend’s birthday dinner. Dining in a group is always a plus point as we get to order more stuff to try out. We started off with the crispy pork trotter salad. It was a brilliant idea as we got to enjoy the best of both worlds – crispy pork trotter skin and refreshing mixed lettuce tossed in a tangy and sweet Thai style dressing.

Thin crust pizza is my favorite and this one in Ante Kitchen & Bar stood out. It had a fluffy and crunchy crust, flavourful seasonings and a nice cheese-to-sauce balance. We enjoyed the generous toppings of chorizo, bacon, tomato puree and melting oozing cheese so much!

We also sampled the duck pesto pasta – excellently al dente with perfectly tender and juicy smoked duck. The duck was the winner of the meal! Juicy, tender and flavourful smoked duck that just melted in our mouths.

We went a little overboard with our orders. Up the Ante pork burger is actually an upgraded version of Ante pork burger (RM28). It has Ante’s special pork patty, wrapped in prime cuts of bacon strips, along with fresh lettuce, tomato, onions, sautéed mushrooms and an egg with a runny-yolk sandwiched in between raisin buns! The raisin buns were delicious – soft, fluffy with sweet raisin bits. However, the patty was a tad too dry, hence we poked the runny egg yolk and it dripped all over the burger. So good!

We had to order Ante Kitchen & Bar’s signature pork chop with berry cream sauce and served with mashed potatoes and baked apple. Again, we “upsized” our order to a thicker cut and the pork steak was really tough and dry. If you do not want to exercise your jaw muscle hard, remember to go for the normal cut. We had it on our subsequent visit and the pork steak was really tender and went well with the sweet and sourish baked apple.

There’s been a plethora of pork centric restaurants in town lately, but Ante Kitchen & Bar might be one of the best. We can’t wait to come back to try out more offerings from their menu!
